For the most part I have focused on my studies and education, and given little attention to gaining work experience for my interested field (IT and computer systems). I have currently just graduated from Birmingham City University (BCU) where I deepened and broadened my knowledge of IT systems from a past, simplistic point of view to a more complex understanding. The specific fields of study I did at BCU involve computer networking, advanced programming with languages like Java, F# and C++, software design and hardware software manipulation with operating systems like Windows and Linux. From my volunteering and work experience I have gleaned an intermediate understanding of the working environment that I could not get from my studies. Although not comprehensive, I believe it is enough working experience to understand what a professional environment requires of me and how one should operate in a professional business.As previously mentioned, my goal is to use the knowledge and understanding I have gained from my studies to excel in professional IT or use my skills in IT to support other areas of work like mathematics or physics.Outside of my studies my time was taken up with the further understanding of computer hardware and software, more specifically, understanding the computer system I built. This could be, for example, figuring out any errors or problems my computer experiences (hardware or software related) and fixing them once the problem is understood.
