My current engineering research concerns the implementation of quantum logic using trapped ions controlled coherently using microwave radiation under the supervision of Professor Winfried Hensinger in the Ion Quantum Technologies group at the University of Sussex. This ultimate ambition is to integrate the systems needed to run full-scale fault-tolerant algorithms, shatter the record set by the classical HPC community, and deliver an application of significant real-world value to people who aren't obsessed with quanta. Science communication and outreach have both inspired me to enter this field and allow me to contribute towards it. To that end, I enjoy volunteering and teaching courses on quantum computing, both from an academic and industrial perspective. During my corporate career, I worked as a graduate scientist under David Curry at Quantum Base Alpha researching quantum algorithms for use cases in aviation and drug discovery. As a recruiter, my experience working with John Barnes in a consultant capacity for Entangled Positions, a recruiting firm bespoke for quantum technologies.
