A graduate of the University of Maryland with a BS in Civil Engineering, Tom has over 40 years of experience in development and construction. His career began with the Washington Gas Light Company where he quickly became Director of Government Sales, responsible for the conversion of major heating and cooling plants from coal and oil to natural gas, and the development of Co-Generation and District Heating & Cooling Plants. Additionally, he served as the Director of Land Development for Levitt & Sons, a national residential home builder, and Director of Inspections and Permits for Anne Arundel County, MD. From the late 70’s to the early 90’s, Tom was owner and/or managing partner in various real estate development projects. In the mid-90’s, he established the Baltimore offices of the Charles E. Smith Construction Company – a developer and contractor of multi-family and commercial properties. His exposure to the hospitality development industry began with the development and construction of the 226-room Rocky Gap Resort and Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course in Western Maryland. From the late 90’s to early 2003, as Managing Director of New Construction for Claris Services Corporation, he managed the New Construction division, overseeing the construction of hotels and conference centers in the mid-Atlantic and Northeastern United States.Eighteen years ago Tom created Chamberlayne Avenue Development Company as a vehicle to continue his development activities. In January 2003, he expanded the company to include project management, construction management, technical services, and owner’s representation. Projects include 13+ full service, select service, historic and botique hotels, a 1000 unit apartment project, and an office building, marine bulkhead and parking garage.Tom's goal is to expand Chamberlayne's client base and types projects to provied better econimic stability for the company.Specialties: Hospitality, Commercial, Residential, and Maritime Development and Construction
