As a Director and Consultant Archaeologist with Rathmell Archaeology Ltd I am responsible for the day-to-day management of the company's archaeological practice and the provision of consultancy advice to our clients. I am accredited as a Member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists.Since graduating I have been based in Northern Britain, originally working for AOC Archaeology. My initial experience was in fieldwork (evaluation, excavation and survey) which provided a good base for developing into historic environment planning consultancy. My survey experience has also retained a strong interest in environmental impacts on archaeological sites, especially from farming regimes, forestry and deleterious vegetation.Working in the Planning & Building Control Service of Fife Council further developed my understanding of Development Control and Development Planning. This is now the main focus of my work at Rathmell Archaeology Ltd, as well as company development and maintaining standards in the projects run by my colleagues. I have also consulted on the delivery of community archaeology projects, the development of HERs, conflict resolution with Scheduled Monuments and provision of training on the UKFS HE Guidelines.Since founding Rathmell Archaeology Ltd in 2003 I have focused on providing cost effective advice to our clients and growing our Ayrshire-based archaeological company. I want our company to be an exemplar of how regional companies can succeed in winning work across Scotland through the quality of our proposals when tested against our client's needs.Specialties: Archaeology of Northern Britain;Archaeology within the Planning Process;Archaeology within forestry regimes;Archaeology within Community Initiatives;Environmental impacts on Archaeological monuments;Preservation of significant archaeological sediments in situ.
