Duties included designing various software solutions for highly reliable systems for the broadcast industry:Was one of two engineers awarded patent #US20100281318: Tolerant in-system programming of field programmable gate arrays.Developed a software solution to a hardware limitation of 5 identification pins where an identification of at least 64 devices were needed. I accomplished this while also keeping backwards compatibility with the older method. This prevented a major incompatibility problem with the hardware. Developed a software solution to a hardware issue on boards where multiple FPGAs where incorrectly 't-tapped' on a JTAG chain causing FPGA updates to fail. This prevented a costly recall of boards that already existed in the field.Developed a software Boundary-scan module that enables a small processor to query any devices on a local JTAG chain for updating, configuration or debugging purposes.Developed a method for a small processor to update its own firmware and/or update on-board FPGAs, while being robust enough to recover in the event of a file error or power failure. Developed a highly reliable, fast and ‘self-healing’, dual network link in Verilog and the protocol used for local panel communications.Developed a method that allowed updating multiple FPGAs in parallel via multiple processors; thereby drastically reducing down time for our customers. Responsibilities:Developed various firmware written in ‘C’ running on a Cortex-M3 or Motorola 908 processor.Developed various applications in C++ running on a XScale processor in VxWorks.Web interface enabling configuration and showing the current state and health of various systems.FPGA code development written in Verilog with verification done using the ModelSim environment.

Work included writing application software along with designing and configuring embedded systems and hardware. Have programmed in C/C++, Visual Basic, Qt and assembly languages. Work has also included designing various specialized hardware and software solutions for various critical security and life safety systems:In addition to embedded systems development, was responsible for the design and implementation of several multi-user applications written in Visual Basic and Access. This included the company's dispatch database, an application used to log and search alarm dispatch entries to a database, and a logging system which consisted of automation software used to take up to 8 digital alarm receivers of different communication formats, convert, log in an Access database, and send to one host computer for alarm processing.
