About Thomas Russell

With more than 30 years of senior executive level travel management experience, Tom Russell is one of a few North America travel executives with direct, hands-on management experience and success in every aspect and segment of the cruise industry. From deep-water travels to adventure/expedition and river cruising (domestic and international), Russell has had a direct hand in the creation, re-creation and executive management of many successful cruise brands.Prior to joining the TripTraka team and launching Global Voyages Group, Russell was president of Cruise and Travel Executives, a privately held Travel Consulting company that he continues to operate today, providing executive level consulting and advisory support for the cruise and travel industry. His past experience includes creating and managing such cruise brands as Silversea Cruises, where he was a founding manager and vice president of sales, marketing, reservations and product development. In 2007, he returned to Silversea as COO and managing director and to create and launch the very successful Siversea Expedition brand. His experience in small ship and expedition cruising includes Windstar Cruises, where he served as the principal Brand Manager; Cruise West, where he served as vice president sales, marketing and reservations; and Society Expeditions, where he served as president and CEO. He gained important experience and exposure to European River Cruises at Uniworld Boutique River Cruises where he served as senior vice president sales and marketing.Russell is a recognized expert in new product development, product planning and itinerary development, marketing plan development, consumer marketing, strategic and tactical marketing promotions, successful retail trade distribution strategies and revenue management.
