I’m a mechanical systems engineer with six years of professional experience, mostly in the government UAS sector with Aurora Flight Sciences. My industry experience is primarily in landing gear and hydraulic systems design. I have lead teams of 2-7 mechanical systems designers in the development of landing gear systems for a variety of unmanned and manned aircraft. Working these programs has given me a well-rounded skillset that includes start-to-finish systems engineering capabilities. This skillset include requirements development, systems safety (FHA, FMECA), and airworthiness verification (tailored military and FAR 23/25 criteria) as well as a broad range of technical strengths including subsystem architectures, mechanical detail design, and analysis. My analysis work has included loads, kinematics, and hydraulic systems simulation in software packages such as MATLAB/Simulink, Ansys, and Amesim, as well as other ad-hoc analyses when the need arises (something I enjoy about prototype work).At Embry-Riddle, I was fortunate to contribute to a number of research and design challenge-oriented teams in a range of fields including motorsports, aerodynamics, advanced composites and tooling manufacturing, unmanned aerial vehicle design, structures design, and aerospace research. I have hands - on experience with composite and metallic fabrication as well as experience with various 3D printing technologies. My graduate research work was with Stratosat, a NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) funded project at Embry-Riddle developing demonstrator aircraft for a novel atmospheric satellite flight concept known as the Dual-Aircraft Platform.I strive to be a highly-adaptable and open-minded team member, and I view every challenge as an opportunity to learn. Professional and technical challenges are core components of my ideal working environment. I enjoy the opportunity to start a new project from the very beginning and see it through, with the flexibility to make technical decisions based on program needs and level of rigor instead of rigid company standards. Prototype vehicles are my specialty.
