After managing a successful law firm for over 25 years, I have wound the same law firm down to a solo venture. I still do real estate, business, estate planning and probate, but have taken down the stress a notch.
As founder and president I have used my business and legal skills to build a law practice which can surround our clients with their needs, be they small business, real estate, divorce, bankruptcy, collections or many other things. The firm is designed as a more old fashioned law firm, where the client really is the focus, rather than the bottom line. I have successfully managed the company for nearly 25 years, and intend to continue to do so for many more.

The year right out of law school is very important and a judicial clerkship is a very sought after place to begin. Being in the district court of Utah, the very courts I would later practice in, I was able to get to know the judges and assist them in researching legal issues, writing rulings and orders and conduct the physical court. This year gave me the opportunity to see many trials and learn what to do and--more importantly--what not to do in court. Currently three of the four attorneys at Scribner & McCandless have begun as law clerks.
Ah, the summers of college. I ran the Grand Canyon for several summers, taking care of the people, cooking their meals and a hundred other things. Each trip took about two weeks, so I got to know that wonderful place. I even ran the flood year of 1983, when the river ran at 5 times its highest flow. That made some of the rapids really exciting!
