I transcribe archival documents relating to the United States Navy in World War I and prepare them for publication. This process includes carefully recreating the documents in Word, checking them for accuracy, and adding explantory footnotes.

I am contracted with Naval History and Heritage Command, the official history branch of the United States Navy. Currently, I am part of a team putting together a documentary history of the U.S. Navy in World War I. My job includes tracking down sources in archives, transcribing key documents and providing explanatory annotations, supplying images and photographs as illustrations, and preparing conference presentations.My first assignment with NHHC was writing for the Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships. Working independently, I conducted archival and secondary research to craft narrative histories of individual ships. I wrote on a broad scope of American naval history, documenting the contributions of vessels from the American Revolution through the post-Cold War era.

I teach courses on an adjunct basis in both classroom and online formats.
