In this role I was given the exciting opportunity to build a secure Azure cloud environment for Wessex Education Shared Services Ltd (WESS) who are in partnership with Brockenhurst College and the Bournemouth and Poole College.This environment hosts the Finance, Human Resources and Management Information systems for each organisation.Some of the things I have implemented are:• Azure Windows Virtual desktop environment• Site to site VPN connection between WESS and both Colleges.• Point to site VPN connection for WESS Staff into the Azure environment.• Migration / installation of many business support systems.• New Active Directory which syncs up with Azure Active Directory using AD Connect.• Domain trust relationship between WESS and both Colleges to enable cross site working.• Enabling multi factor authentication for all staff.• LDAP server for our legacy VOIP phones.• Incorporation of Microsoft Teams into our existing VOIP environment.Day to day duties include:• Management of WESS’s Azure environment, Active Directory, and the Office 365 tenant.• Dealing with all requests which range from 1st to 3rd line support.• Liaising with both colleges with any technical matters.• Ensuring our systems are updated regularly and protected from any threats.• Keeping track of Azure spend to make sure WESS keep within budget.

In this role I work on a large range of technologies with a continual focus on helping students achieve their educational goals. Some of my responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Responsible for over 150 Servers ranging from Windows 2003,2008R2, 2012R2, Linux Enterpise Server 11. Technical lead on system installations including VmWare, VSphere, LYNC Unified communications, VDI, VEEAM backup, Sophos Enterprise Console and Windows services.Responsible for the design and implementation of the migration of College student record systems from SQL Server 2005 to a Microsoft clustered 2008 instance.Daily administration of the following Windows services DHCP, DNS, DFS, MSCS, SQL, SCCM, SCOM.Day to day monitoring and protection against threats such as DDOS attacks, viruses and remote execution vulnerabilities using multiple Cisco ASA firewalls.
