Director Of The Center For Spiritual Life
Lasell continues to be a fun challenge, developing a multifaith spiritual life program at a lively small school in the greater Boston area. We have pioneered Late Friday Night programming, tech-free retreats, and Spirituality in the World programs (Business and Spirituality, Freedom of Speech v. Freedom of Religion, a series on the conflict in the Middle East, etc.). I'm also teaching here; my latest project is piloting a rigorous Junior Ethics experience course, which will eventually become part of the Core Curriculum. I also teach courses in philosophy and African issues, as well as intro to World Religions. I'm still working in international service; I founded Lasell's trip to Uganda, where we have raised the high school entrance exam scores for a rural Ugandan elementary school by 100% in three years (this trip is currently on hold because of the political situation in Uganda). This spring I will explore a similar trip to Tanzania, working at a rural school near Iringa. I'm also the chair of our Diversity and Inclusion Committee, which has been especially active the last two years.
