I analysed the caseloads of clients who had sought advice from the Citizens Advice Bureau regarding Employment Support Allowance claims for the campaign entitled “ESA fit for work.” These caseloads provided evidence for the Work Capability Assessment Fifth Independent Review by Dr Paul Litchfield; this review is the last independent assessment of the government’s welfare reform bill of 2007. In this voluntary role I worked on an acute medical ward supplementing the work of the nursing team to ensure the work of comfort of patients on an acute medical ward and ran errands to various hospital departments.
