I am thomas williamson i started my apprenticeship as a tool maker with louvolite following my level 2 in engineering since then i have trained to run all the required machinery such as Wire eroders, spark eroders , surface grinders, milling machines , lathes , CMM machine and other general tool room equipment.Since learning how to operate this equipment i have been continually developing my skill set by attending college on day release to achieve My HNC and HND in mechanical engineering these courses have helped me to produce new mould tools and press tools for louvolites growing range of products some of the tooling includes Hot runner systems, multiple sliding cores, 2 stage ejections and tools with complex shut offsAs for press tools i have produced progression tooling from single impression tools too 4 impression as well as new modular press tooling that is used to increse the repair turn around time.As well as producing new tooling it is also my responsibility to maintain the current production tools for injection moulding , press tooling and PVC extrusionIt is also my responsibility to train up louvolites new apprentices to make sure they can work independently and safely.
