My path to classroom teaching was non-traditional. I went to work shortly after high school and instead of college, I worked in technical support for many years, eventually managing my own department before deciding to continue my education. While finishing my bachelor's degree, I worked at a Boys and Girls Club, taught STEM to students through a grant to promote college access and preparation, and mostly, worked in after school programs teaching, coaching and tutoring. When I completed my bachelors degree in the spring of 2017, I began leading an after school program for underserved students in the Metro West region around Boston. I left this position in February of 2020, and found myself with the opportunity to be a teaching assistant in first grade at The Meadowbrook School of Weston. The next school year, I staying in a TA role, this time working with fourth and fifth graders. Halfway through the year, I was asked to cover a leave position as an interim classroom teacher in the fifth grade and eventually invited back as a third grade lead teacher in the 2022-2023 school year.
