When teaching Saturday morning conversational lessons many years ago, I needed to motivate the students to learn. I initiated and developed an extra-curriculum program by using a variety of board games and activities to further student’s language skills and problem-solving. The program has been expanding every year and has given students skills in language, creativity, problem solving, cooperation, negotiation skills and critical thinking that intrinsically motivates them to develop as a student in other disciplines. Teaching in a culturally diverse environment for many years has given me knowledge and understanding that students need to develop their language skills with fun and enjoyable activities that inspire them to learn.
