• Worked within the Detection and Response Branch as an ORISE Fellow on the Response Science and Translation Team.• Designed and conducted research on factors associated with non-occupational post-exposure prophylaxis use among transgender women across seven urban areas in the United States, using the NHBS-TRANS 2019-2020 dataset.• Evaluated and summarized findings from the PS 20-2010 End of Year Report (EOYR) findings for reporting year 3. These findings were synthesized into a presentation to the Detection and Response Branch utilizing varying analytical programs (namely R Studio, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint).• Developed a qualitative and quantitative evaluation into Iowa DPH’s cluster detection and response plans and processes.• Assisted in the design and implementation of a qualitative evaluation into multiple jurisdictions HIV cluster detection and response plans and processes (Philadelphia and Minnesota).

•Internship facilitated via the CDC Student Worksite Experience Program (SWEP). The SWEP position was with the Burden and Severity Unit of the Applied Research and Modeling Team within the Influenza Division of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases Branch.•Prepared datasets for analytic projects and for estimating disease burden and severity of seasonal influenza viruses. This included reviewing, editing, and creating SAS code to understand the dataset and variables created and using that information to build out a data dictionary to share with other analysts and to create new variables and document their set up in the data dictionary.•Conducted a comprehensive literature search to obtain sensitivity ranges for influenza diagnostic tests from 2013-2023. Diagnostic tests of interest were multiplex assays/panels, and nucleic acid amplification tests. The diagnostic reference standard used in the studies were either viral culture or RT-PCR.•Evaluated information provided by collaborators for a global study to estimate influenza hospitalizations and summarizing this information into bullets or digestible short statements for publication.•Prepared data for weekly severity assessments including influenza-like illness data.

Etrac Study

•The eTRAC study is a mixed-methods study, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) led by Dr. Danielle Lambert, MPH, PhD. The primary focus is to examine lived experience of LGBTQIA+ youth in the Deep South. •Analyzed and coded over 400 quantitative survey entries and 33 in-depth qualitative interview transcripts using qualitative data analysis software (MAXQDA).•Triangulated data from multiple sources to point toward future research topics, public health recommendations, and policy recommendations.•Developed qualitative data analysis skills using qualitative data analysis software (MAXQDA).•Intercoder reliability agreement on a 1:1 team on topics including Cyber Dating Abuse (CDA) harms, CDA Channels, CDA Behaviors, Violence-Related Advice for Teens, Overall Stat of Mental Health, Perceptions about Sexual and Gender Identity, Perceptions of the LGBTQIA+ Community, Passive and Active Suicide Ideation, Transphobia, Biphobia & Bi Erasure, Misgendering and Pronoun Misuse, Substance Use, etc.

In my graduate course "Field Epidemiology and Surveillance" at The University of Georgia, I was part of a team that conducted a cross-sectional survey to examine whether certain information-seeking behaviors are associated with higher adherence to vaccination recommendations among UGA Public Health Students. Our research question of interest was "Is clicking beyond the headlines on social media associated with adherence to vaccination recommendations among UGA Public Health Students attending classes at the Athens Campus during Spring 2022?".

In my graduate course "Introduction to Health Policy and Management" at The University of Georgia, I developed a policy memo that proposed the implementation of a COVID-19 vaccine mandate in high-risk groups in the state of Georgia. The two policy options were a vaccine mandate for healthcare workers, or a vaccine mandate for ages 60 and older. The two policy options were compared to determine which option would be more affordable, efficient, equitable, politically feasible, and sustainable. It was recommended that the policy option of choice be implementing a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for healthcare workers in Georgia. This policy option was the more affordable, efficient, politically feasible, and sustainable choice.

In my undergraduate course “Air Quality Control” at Western Carolina University, I conducted a project that analyzed air pollution data from Purple Air sensors. The sensor chosen to gather data was called “Biltmore Park” located alongside NC-146 and Interstate I-26, and 4.1 miles from the Asheville Regional Airport. The data points of interest were Temperature, Relative Humidity, and Particulate Matter with a diameter of 2.5 µg/m3 during the sampling time span of January 1st, 2020-January 1st, 2021. This data set, consisting of over 368,000 data points, was manipulated in the statistical coding language R. Through this project I set out to answer two questions of interest: Did the pandemic and stay-at-home order decrease PM2.5 concentrations? And how vastly do increases and decreases in travel affect PM2.5 concentrations? These were answered by comparing the plots of PM2.5 concentrations for the entirety of March 2020, as well as comparing two separate single-day concentrations plots during pre-stay-at-home orders and during the stay-at-home order.
