Test Engineer
I support a range of test activities for various industries. Examples of test articles include large-scale separation systems and small control thrusters.I have designed and analyzed hydraulic and pneumatic test systems to simulate dynamic separation events to be used for development and qualification testing. I also support instrumentation and data system integration with several other test fields within the department. Responsibilities include: - Programming of National Instruments-based data systems, to include FPGA deployment.- Design and analysis of high-pressure gas and hydraulic systems, included boosted gas fill systems, servo-based hydraulic control systems, and pneumatic actuation systems.- Execution of test activities as acting test conductor.- Test design and requirements verification, procedure and test plan development, schematic design and implementation.- Coordination with design, manufacturing, and systems engineering for rapid prototype development and testing.I received formal training for handling of explosive test ordnance, use and disposal of hazardous materials (HAZWOPER), as well as development of National Instruments hardware/software test systems.
Engineer
I have performed a wide range of tasks for several groups under the cybersecurity and information systems departments.I have worked with the OSIsoft PI data historian framework to aggregate data from many different sources under an Army Corps. of Engineers project, as well as for the Dynetics automotive commercial group. I have used the PI system to architect data archives for vehicle manufacturing quality control data and photovoltaic array inverter data. I also used the analysis subsystem in the PI framework to perform analyses on the historical data. Based on customer feedback, I created a web application using the R/Shiny technologies to create automated time-series forecast reports based on several different metrics. The application is capable of interfacing with both the PI framework as well as flat files for flexibility.I have also worked to stand up a risk management web application using ASP.Net, Angular.js, and other web-development tools.I also performed lab-based cybersecurity audit analysis for PM UAS (Unmanned Aerial Aystems), as well as conducted scan events onsite using a range of custom and commercially available tools.
Mechanical Engineer
I worked with the Joint USFK Portal and Integrated Threat Recognition (JUPITR) Early Warning and Force Protection team to field a set of integrated sensors for an Advanced Technical Demonstration at Osan Air Base, South Korea. My primary responsibility for the project included the research, design, and coordinated fabrication of a series of custom data, video, and power management devices to integrate a set of Long Range Thermal Imaging (LRTI) cameras, PTZ cameras, seismic transducers, and man-portable radars into a software control architecture. I also led the hardware install teams for Force Protection at Dugway Proving Grounds and Osan Air Base. During testing, I worked as a field service representative to work with Operational Test Command (OTC) personnel to ensure that the JUPITR Early Warning sensors functioned correctly. Additionaly responsibilities include: creating and maintaining System Under Test (SUT) drawings to show network and serial device interconnects and protocols for use by a software development team, design and fabrication of sensor mounting solutions, network configuration support, and oversight and upkeep of several robotics platforms.
Mechanical Engineering Student
Engineering Intern
I conducted research on solar power systems for use with Entry Control Point hardware to provide expeditionary capabilities to the soldier and reduce in-theater fuel requirements. Main areas of interest included: modeling battery charge cycles for potential systems based on existing hardware, prototyping generator auto-start control systems, performing hardware system diagnostics tests, and creating cost-benefit analyses. My final project consisted of a plan to reduce military spending by approximately $9,000,000 per year using expeditionary energy packages to supplement currently-fielded energy equipment. Additionally, I oversaw a team to perform product kitting to be shipped overseas. Responsibilities included creating personnel time charts and process optimization. I was required to learn the elements of a complex integrated hardware/software package and interaction dependancies of the components. I learned best-practices of electrical and control systems engineering, requirements development, and AGILE project management tools.
