I'm currently working on a portfolio of select projects where I partner with pioneering leaders, entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, teams and communities. I'm a part-scientist, part-creative, part-instigator, part-coach, part-strategist, part-experience designer, on a mission to unlock the huge amount of untapped human energy that exists in and across organisations. Increasingly, I'm being drawn to and specialising in designing and facilitating deep learning experiences that enable inter-disciplinary innovation. The building blocks of this work are co-design, creative collaboration, experiential learning and collective intelligence. I'm developing the idea that a deep diversity of values, experiences, attitudes and domain expertise within groups, beyond gender, age and race, are key to driving learning, collaboration, innovation ultimately change and transformation. How to do this practically, bringing unusual suspects together to play with and prototype new more human ways of working that lead to breakthroughs, is what gets me excited. An explorer at heart with a biochemistry masters, I stumbled into R&D at P&G and then a career working in brand marketing and business innovation consultancy before I changed tack. For the last nearly 10 years, I've been running collaborative projects that point human energy and creativity towards tough systemic challenges. Applying the skills and expertise I learnt to build strong brands towards social and environmental problems. This idea around 'big teaming' points forms one strand of my work, especially through the Swarm approach. In addition to a deepening practice around more human ways of working, I've got the scars of having burnt-out from attaching too much to the pursuit of purpose as a social entrepreneur, putting all my energy into highly uncertain and tough system change work. I'm now bringing a more balanced, grounded approach to my work, with wellbeing, learning, self-inquiry and reflection at the heart of what I do.
