Promoted to Technician whilst retaining duties as an on-call emergency Responder. In this duel role, I support the Independent Living Service in the effective and efficient delivery of installing, programming, maintaining, managing and the decommission of assistive technologies. I provide technical advice and training in the delivery and development of specialist telecare equipment. I complete assessments with customers and organisations in order to advise of the most appropriate telecare and support services for their individual circumstances. I collate, update and manage information and records regarding equipment and infrastructure and provide technical advice, training and understanding across the company in the delivery and development of telecare services. I support the co-ordination and implantation of new systems and procedures and improvements to working practices by positively participating in the use of new technology.

I provide frontline housing related support and 24-hour emergency services to 9,000 vulnerable residents living on social housing sites and in private properties across North Yorkshire. I am responsible for installing a wide range of equipment including personal alarms, fall detectors, smoke alarms, flood detectors, epilepsy sensors and many other specialist devices designed to support people to live independently in their own homes. I arrange appointments to test equipment, update customer details and ensure they are receiving the most appropriate services for their needs. This often leads to adjusting and upgrading equipment and services to fit changing personal circumstances. I constantly use specialised computer programs to directly edit customer information and access alarm activation history to ensure important information is always up to date.Part of my role is responding to emergencies in our fully stocked fleet vehicles. I attend alarm calls to provide first aid in emergencies, support customers with medical or property issues and also resolve equipment faults whilst always providing excellent customer service. I work closely with colleagues and support them to complete constantly changing workloads and build strong working relationships with other departments and partnering organisations. Every day brings new interesting challenges and I enjoy finding solutions and providing customers with support and reassurance.
