During my time at the technicolor academy I produced a range of assets, all completed under deadlines ranging from 1 week to 2 weeks in length I was taught to follow standardised vfx methodologies and the LOD (A,B,C) process, working from larger forms to finer details. I presented my work 3 times a week, publishing review videos and images to shotgrid for validation at each stage of the LOD process.Week 1: Alocasia Plant- Modeled from single reference image lined up within Maya.- UV’d and asset clean-up completed.- Cleaned Maya scene in preparation for other departments.Week 2: Axe Concept- Modeled from a single concept image lined up within Maya.- UV’d and asset clean-up completed.- Cleaned Maya scene in preparation for other departments.Week 3: Kodak Brownie Box- Used a scanned version of the asset to match cameras within Maya.- UV’d and asset clean-up completed.- Cleaned Maya scene in preparation for other departments.Week 4: Push for perfection- During this week we were given the opportunity to push our previous assets to a more polished standard.Weeks 5 and 6: Cliff Environment- Modeled from a single reference image.- Blocked a full cliff face within Maya.- Sub-divided and sculpted larger shapes within Zbrush.- Retopologised, asset clean-up, and UV’d.- Refined sculpting pass.- Detailed sculpting pass.- Cleaned Maya and Zbrush scenes in preparation for other departments.Weeks 7 and 8: Digi Double- Generated a collection of images from the scanned reference data.- Camera matched a scanned version of the asset to reference images within Maya.- Used a provided basemesh to match the proportions of the scanned asset, working with Zbrush and Maya to achieve the shape and proportions.- Further refinement of the face completed within Maya.- Costume modelled within both Maya and Zbrush. LOD-C, LOD-B, and LOD-A generated.- UV’d and asset clean-up completed.- Cleaned Maya scene in preparation for other departments.
