Three years ago, I retired from the US Army after 20 years of service. While serving in the military I was able to develop leadership skills and work with a diverse group of people, in some of the most challenging environments I could have ever imagined. In the military, I served a number of positions but always sought out positions of greater responsibility. Those positions included; Team Leader of up to 10 soldiers, Squad Leader of up to 28 soldiers, Aircraft Structural Repair Quality Control Inspector, Company Safety Representative for a company of over 150, Unit Prevention Leader (Drug & Substance Abuse Prevention), and Instructor/Writer for the Aircraft Structural Repair Course (15G). Following my military retirement, I made the decision to go back to school full-time, where I used my GI Bill benefits to complete both a Bachelor of Science in Criminology, Law, & Society, as well as my Master of Science in Criminal Justice at George Mason University in just over three years while working full-time through the majority of those three years.Through my education, I have learned many skills that not only enhance my leadership and organizational skills from the military but to conduct various types of research. I have focused on intelligence analysis and problem-oriented policing strategies. I am proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. I have also created strategic partnerships with various local police agencies, helping them to create more efficient use of their limited officer staffing. I am a dedicated problem solver, never stopping with the most obvious solution, but searching for the root cause of the problem, to prevent repeat issues.
