About Thomas Griffin
Understanding how things work then taking that understanding and fixing or improving upon them, drives me. Better products, better tools, systems, processes, bringing out the best in people. Engaging innovation and creativity to make the world around us better.Starting my career journey in construction, I quickly determined Electrical was the trade that best fit this paradigm. From simple to complex electrical projects I realized I could improve a customer's experience by knowing how things work, and why. Being innovative and embracing changing technology and methods. Moving into the offsite industry, brought me into the most innovative and forward looking part of construction. Offsite is exciting, as it is the new kid on the block in construction. Every aspect of it requires improving traditional methods. Challenging the status quo of construction methodology of 100+ years. This is a challenge worth taking, and where my career is currently.The transition from Trades to CI, Planning, and Systems while untraditional, has given me a cross functional toolset that, at times, is a bit of a secret weapon. Creating a clear outline of the objective, self motivating, activating, and completing - all while seeking to learn from those ahead of me- are a trades person's day to day. Applied in systems, management, and planning areas has been of great benefit to the teams and projects I have been on. My (unconventional) path; electrical in offsite led to electrical planning, then to plant wide continuous improvement (as a PM), higher level planning [production scheduling to S&OP] (as master scheduler), to finally, operations systems (as a manager). My secret however, is people. Understanding people, pulling them together and brining out their best has opened doors and successes not possible on my own. Thank you to all that have helped and supported my path so far... Lets see how far we can take it!

Specific Projects:Developing, implementing, and facilitating a "start to finish" automatic digital [task and process] map designed to simply allocate manpower and task completions across an entire manufacturing plant of 100s of employees, all working simultaneously. This streamlined communication between leadership and production staff, while also providing "live" instant information to managers of where all products were on the production line, then displayed out for all stakeholders. This is currently implemented and running in two manufacturing facilities.Building an Agile/ Lean project program to encourage group "continuous improvements" from production staff in 3 manufacturing plants. creating a system to run hundreds of kaizen projects and training teams on how to run and facilitate a kaizen (improvement) project to increase efficiencies and reduce waste from the smallest to largest tasks.Team member of bringing online a Soukup [semi- automated] framing line. Including redesigning an entire wood processing mill feeding a manufacturing production line, and process engineering the system around the production processes it feeds. "End to End" re-designing of the production processes for an entire 75000 sq ft production line. This project had a net benefit of a 30% increase in usable production space for manufacturing the product, increased throughput by reducing Risks of various processes, and created a forecast savings of over $3.8m over 12 months. Brought online the software suite "holobuilder" into the production process for 3 manufacturing plants. This forward looking software allows quality and as-builts to be captured in real time, in 360 Degree scenes that can be edited and reviewed anywhere at any time.
