In the maritime arena his experience includes representing clients by defending and prosecuting matters under the General Maritime law, as well as under federal statutes and regulations, including vessel arrest, ocean cargo matters, vessel allisions, salvage claims, the Wreck Act, the Jones Act, and vessel repair and construction disputes. In the land based arena his experience includes breach of contract disputes, collections, business torts, insurance coverage disputes, and breach of fiduciary duty claims.Tom is a certified arbitrator and a past Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Houston Maritime Arbitrators Association. He has experience representing parties in arbitration as well as acting as a neutral third-party arbitrator presiding over arbitrations.In transactional matters, Tom’s transactional experience includes corporate transactions, corporate governance as well as negotiating and drafting contracts. As an entity’s external general counsel, he brings to the table his litigation, arbitration and transaction experience for individuals and entities that either do not have a need for a full time general counsel or do not want to incur the cost of a full time general counsel.
