As the Director of Operations at the Oak Square branch, I focused on strengthening the communities in our service area by providing families and adults with the opportunity to participate in programming that fosters healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility.- Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the largest membership YMCA in Boston with an operating budget of $4.5 million.- Exceeded branch’s net bottom line target of $395,000 by $231,000 in 2013. Membership units increased from 4,800 in 2012 to 5,800 in 2014. - Increased Annual Fund volunteer teams’ campaign from $14,400 in 2013 to $23,000 in 2014. - Repositioned annual 5K race fundraising event by implementing new marketing strategies to target young adult population and adding post-race festival showcasing local food and music. Increased enrollment from 150 in 2012 to 325 in 2013 and fundraising impact from $3,000 to $13,000.

Managed a dynamic staff team to deliver year-round childcare, summer camp, sports, and enrichment programs for children, teens, and families that foster youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility- Increased summer camp revenue from $220,582 in 2010 to $282,978 in 2012. Increased enrollment to from 1,100 to over 1,400 campers annually. Incorporated three curriculum specialist positions into camp program to improve program quality by focusing on summer learning loss initiatives, youth fitness and nutrition, and creative arts. Reduced payroll expense by hiring work-study employees from local universities.- Increased youth sports enrollment from 125 per session in 2010 to 225 per session in 2013. Increased annual youth and adult sports revenue from $134,973 to $192,874 during leadership period. Added new adult sports leagues, ballet, digital photography, karate, and volunteer-coached youth basketball leagues.- Collaborated with the Boston Celtics, the Boston Youth Fund, the New England Aquarium, Private Industry Council, READ Boston, Tenacity, the Faneuil Street Public Library, Partners for Youth with Disabilities, and local universities to deliver unique program opportunities and valuable resources to neighborhood youth, families, and teens.- Partnered with the Baldwin ELC, Mary Lyon, and Winship elementary schools to provide branch-based physical education programs at the Oak Square branch.- Chaired the United Way Staff Campaign in 2010. Exceeded goal by 22%.

Implemented nationally-recognized health initiatives and collaborated with community partners to deliver innovative programming aimed at supporting students’ efforts to adopt life changing habits and live healthier lives.- Implemented school-wide policy and staff and student culture changes related to healthy eating and physical activity that led the school to be named as one of seven Boston public schools presented with a National Recognition Award from the Clinton Foundation’s Alliance for a Healthier Generation.- Collaborated with the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center to co-facilitate the Sports & Scholars afterschool academic achievement and sports club for 40 students/week. - Implemented Share Our Strength’s Cooking Matters program to offer healthy cooking classes to 20 underserved families from the Chinatown neighborhood.- Launched a strategic partnership with former Boston Celtic Paul Pierce’s Truth on Health foundation. This collaboration led to the development of a physical activity curriculum implemented across two Boston public schools and a series of physical activity TV spots on Comcast On Demand starring Paul Pierce and Josiah Quincy School students.

Developed high quality programs geared towards supporting the healthy social development of young people; fostering their emotional growth, and building their confidence through athletic, artistic, and academic opportunities.- Assisted the Youth, Teen, and Camp Director in the oversight of all department program development, implementation, and marketing. Managed the hiring, supervision, and evaluation of 25 summer camp staff, 20 school year staff, and program volunteers.- Hired and trained all youth sports instructors and coached all youth sports classes.- Developed the Y-Lead leadership development program to offer 16 middle school students an opportunity to explore diverse career paths, volunteer in their community, and investigate the world of higher education by partnering with local leaders in business, politics, and education.- Awarded a grant from former Boston Celtic M.L. Carr’s WARM2Kids Foundation to renovate the YMCA Teen Center and purchase new computers for out of school time programs.
