I am a future-facing thought leader within the unmanned aerial systems (UAS) industry and founder of Grand Sky, US’s first and only fully operational commercial UAS research and development park. Our park is home to one of Northrop Grumman’s North Dakota Location, and we have over 1.2 million square feet of hangar, office, shops, laboratories, and data collections spaces available with a build to suit basis, with financing available. I believe in a future with UAS highly integrated with our lives, supplementing services like our emergency response, infrastructure inspection, communications, humanitarian relief, logistics, precision farming, domestic security, and even scientific research. But HOW that all works needs to be figured out. At Grand Sky, we have the sandbox and we are creating the tools to better define what that future will look like. We are dedicated to researching and providing data-driven policy development for communities. Currently, we are working on areas like UAS Traffic Management (UTM) research and beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) flight systems and much more. Grand Sky remains on the cutting edge of the field and industry. In 2018, we conducted the first Trans-Atlantic Medium‑altitude long‑endurance (MALE) UAS flight. And received the first-ever regulatory approval to host commercial BVLOS flight. In 2019, we purchased one of the first available Firebird UAS, with a wingspan of over 80 feet (24.4 m) it is one of the largest in the industry. With this capability, Grand Sky is able to map more efficiently, for longer periods of time, and gather data for multiple clients at a time. I’m truly excited about having this capability in our fleet. I’m also the Founder and President of Infinity Development Partners (IDP), which I started with the purpose of incorporating the three areas vision, resources, and partners for Department of Defense (DoD) specific projects. IDP is a holding company that invests in multiple areas, including technology, renewable energy, and real estate development.
