Continued on and off site asset integrity work for the Perseverance mine shaft refurbishment project including:- Managing steel integrity operations on critical MHS infrastructure. Ensuring work sequencing is logical and efficient, scheduling labour to match work volume/ skill, managing interactions with other upstream and downstream jobs to maximise time at work front. - Hands on underground work with the labour team.- Overhaul of major project risk assessments by organising focus groups.- Writing critical training documents for shaft refurbishment works.- Aiding the development, installation and commissioning of a new, one of a kind work platform for the skip shaft.- Spearheading auxiliary projects key to the continuation of the shaft refurbishment works.

Nickel West

Liaising between BHP, concrete repair specialists and grout suppliers to develop an efficient repair methodology for the deteriorated concrete shaft lining. Designed and developed a mock trial off site where industry experts pitched their methodologies on replica defects. The successful methodologies were then flown to site and tested in situ to prove material competency before implementation throughout entirety of shaft.

A dynamic summer placement that enabled me to gain a thorough understanding of many tasks that are conducted underground as well as the challenges of mining a very soft and unstable orebody. The small scale of the operation was beneficial to my development as it allowed an easy overview of the entire mine and proceedings.My primary roles underground were driving 20 tonne dumper vehicles and long hole drilling on Atlas Copco Simba drill rigs. Additionally I was able to practice face charging (nitroglycerine and ANFO), remote loader driving and miscellaneous mine maintenance.
