San Francisco Bay Area

COAL + ICE is a documentary photography and video exhibition about climate change that brings together the work of over 40 photographers from around the world to visually narrate the consequences triggered by the continued use of fossil fuels. The exhibition is co-curated by Magnum photographer Susan Meiselas and renowned Dutch exhibition designer Jeroen de Vries.This past September, COAL + ICE made its U.S. premiere at the Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture in San Francisco, inside a 50,000 pavilion. The exhibition also served as a stage for a three-week festival of events seeking to amplify the conversation about climate change and explore visionary solutions. COAL + ICE in San Francisco was also an Affiliate Event of the Global Climate Action Summit, and hosted Governor Jerry Brown’s California Leadership Dinner for 500 Summit delegates inside the exhibition with a meal by Alice Waters.

How to Start Your Own Utopia is a 24-minute documentary following the Ou Ning, the prominent Chinese artist, and his project, the Bishan Commune. This short film premiered at the Guggenheim Museum in New York in October of 2017 as part of the exhibition, Art and China after 1989: Theater of the World. The exhibition traveled to the Guggenheim Bilbao this past summer, and is currently on display at SFMOMA through February 24, 2019.

Shanghai, China And Paris, France

Successfully executed two back-to-back installations of Coal+Ice, a documentary photography and video exhibition, in Paris at the US Ambassador’s Residence during the COP21 climate conference, and in Shanghai at the Vanke Xuhui Center.• Sourced local installation teams and equipment rentals.• Managed fundraising and budgets.• Coordinated the printing, shipping, and usage rights of the photographs and video works by 32 artists.• Shot and edited installation photos and videos, and managed exhibition website.• Oversaw press outreach in China, France, and the U.S.Produced the exhibition’s premiere at Three Shadows Gallery in Beijing while employed at Asia Society in 2011.

Managed the operations and strategic planning for the Center on US-China Relations, a distinct unit within the Asia Society, which began as a three-person unit and has increased to its present staff of ten.Led communications efforts, including video production and press outreach, for Center events, exhibitions, multimedia projects and reports. Oversaw publishing schedules and social media plans.Notable projects:CHINAFILE (Associate Publisher)– Oversaw the conceptualization and staffing of ChinaFile (launched January 2013), an online magazine committed to broadening the scope of China news coverage and bringing voices from China to the American public.– Contributed articles, videos, and photo essays focusing on China’s environmental challenges and the urban-rural divide, four of which have been translated and published in The New York Times Chinese edition.COAL + ICE – Worked with Orville Schell and co-curators Susan Meiselas and Jeroen de Vries to develop the COAL + ICE exhibition for the Three Shadows Photography Art Centre in Beijing. GREEN DOCS FORUM– Co-organized a 3-day documentary workshop in Guangzhou, China, to provide a networking platform for environmental filmmakers, and build the capacity of Chinese environmental NGOS to produce multimedia content.– Co-curated a sold-out four-night environmental documentary film series in New York in August 2014.
