My main focus was structural engineering. I designed structural members including beams, columns, foundation, and connections, and ensured that plans showed all structural components accurately. I met with clients to understand their project needs and engineered solutions when the design didn't work as initially planned. I also did a site improvement plan.

The main project that I helped out with focused on improving the Arapahoe Underpass at 13th St. and replacing concrete pavement along Arapahoe Avenue between 13th and 15th Streets. I also helped with other smaller projects as needed, such as researching how other municipalities perform utility trenches or overseeing construction of a multi-use pathway.

In India, up to 70% of sanitation systems fail within the two years of construction. To determine factors that lead to system failure, I performed financial and environmental calculations for successful and failed sanitation systems as part of a sustainability assessment.

I researched the role of neuroinflammation, via microglia priming, in producing brain changes following early life stress.

Maier/Watkins Lab

Assessed the role of glucocorticoids in sensitizing microglia in aged individuals and the subsequent effects on learning and memory.

Parker, Colorado

Made reagents for ACT and HMS HPT product lines. Also performed several control tests on finished reagents to ensure they were made correctly.

Researched the role of mitogen activated phosophatase-1 in glucococorticoid negative feedback. To do this, I performed assays such as immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization on rat brain and pituitary gland tissue. I also used molecular biology techniques to isolate gene sequence from plasmid vector to create a probe for in situ hybridization. I.
