Attorney Courtney C Smith dedicates her practice to the support of families in Lake and Porter Counties. She advocates and guides her clients through the processes of dissolution of marriage, child custody and child support, and is a registered family law mediator. Attorney Smith is a Guardian ad Litem for children who need a voice and their best interests protected during litigation.

I was a dean's fellow for the foundations program. I worked exclusively with the Academic Success Program, as well as, directly under a professor. I was assigned 9 students to mentor and educate during the semester. The program had lessons to help prepare students for the law school experience, beginning with study plans, effective reading strategies, briefing tips, and finally outlining and how to study for exams.

My responsibilities including writing judicial opinions and observing judicial proceedings.

Legal Writing Teaching Assistant for the Summer Institute

The Summer Institute is an intense preparatory tool designed to help students become accustomed to what they will experience as law students. In a short period of time, participants are immersed into some of the required first year law school courses. The courses vary each year, but the intensity remains the same. Participants not only receive support and assistance from faculty, but from teaching assistants who are ICLEO Fellows and have also successfully completed the Summer Institute experience.

I enjoyed teaching English and German in an urban school. I had the opportunity to mentor my students and guide them in making good choices. Each of these young people has the opportunity to express themselves. It is the role of teachers to help them figure out the best way for them to shine.Donald E.
