I developed and provided strategic direction for product and research into the latest AI and big data technologies. My responsibilities included creating a product roadmap and managing release cycles, designing research plans, managing research and development funding applications and research collaborations, providing thought leadership and dissemination of research results.

My mission was to understand and explain how companies and public organization can utilize the ever growing data resource to create sustainable value. Important topics include data-driven innovation, the emergence of markets and platforms for data transformation and sharing, and the unique features of data exchange platforms and data infrastructures.

I was an industrial PhD student at KMD and the Department of IT Management in CBS, focusing mainly on Open Data and the impact of Open Data initiatives on society. As a part of my research I am studying the Basic Data Program in Denmark, in co-operation with the Danish Agency for Digitization

I worked for the IT vendor KMD during my Industrial PhD. The key goal of my PhD project was to identify promising areas for business development within data management, data analytics and other data related services, as well as providing input to their longer term data-strategy. During the project, I worked closely with the VP and the director of my department, as well as with KMD´s key customers to understand how new and existing data could be used even more effectively to create new value.

In the period after moving to Denmark, during which I was working on my Industrial PhD application, I also worked as an independent consultant for my previous employer, Advania. The biggest individual project was project management in a large Microsoft NAV implementation for the oil distributing company Magn in the Faroe Islands. I also initiated a successful sale to the Nordic company Ecolabel for the management of an integrated technology platform in Scandinavia and a successful business relationship between Xerox Denmark and Advania.

As a director of Innovation I had some general management responsibilities, participated in sales (pre-sales and tenders) and led a number of projects with the goal of extending Advania’s current business. I led and participated in a number of ventures where we introduced new technology to the company and to the Icelandic market. To name a few, we were among the first globally to build a platform with working interoperability between Microsoft NAV, Microsoft CRM and Microsoft SharePoint. We built up proficiency in the Microsoft BI tools and developed a number of applications for the SharePoint platform, and started mobile development.

My main role was to manage strategic projects concerning new knowledge, technology or products. I was the project manager in the Icelandic State‘s e-Invoice implementation, a new system built on the Oracle Applications platform and introduced at OAUG collaborate in 2008. A part of this project was to participate in collaboration between the Icelandic public and private sectors where we were developing a Icelandic version of the NES UBL XML standard for invoices and purchasing orders. During this period we developed a standalone invoice broker platform for the general market. I participated in building a new department where we focused on Microsoft CRM and Microsoft Sharepoint (new products from Microsoft at the time). I was also among the leaders in a broad cooperation between the Icelandic IT Industry and the Icelandic Universities to increase awareness of IT in Iceland and encourage more students to enroll in IT related studies.

I was a program manager of three individual Master´s level programs: Investment Management, Corporate Finance and Accounting. A part of my responsibilities was to plan the course offerings, in cooperation with Icelandic and U.S. professors, finding and hiring staff in cooperation with the Dean of the School of Business and creating marketing material. After the program was started I managed the relationships with international professors and students. I also organized a study tour to Boston for the students

I started as an Oracle payroll consultant but later took over as a project manager in the implementation and localization of Oracle payroll for the Icelandic State. The Icelandic state´s integrated Oracle Applications suit, Orri, is the biggest individual IT system ever to be implemented in Iceland. Orri is currently being used by 213 individual governmental organizations and the payroll system (for which I was responsible) pays monthly salary to around 16.600 state employees.

I was hired as an IT consultant and my projects included doing a requirement analysis for the Icelandic State’s tender for a new finance system, and consulting MasterCard Iceland on the implementation on a new purchasing card for the Icelandic public sector.

Taught Mathematics and created web-based study material. Participated in structuring and implementing two new subjects new to Business Education in Iceland at the time, Entrepreneurship and Information Mangement.

My main responsibility was to do currency risk analysis and help companies balance their currency risk. I also created business cases (amongst other for the Blue Lagoon in Iceland) and acted as an assistant editor of a daily newsletter on international financial markets that was distributed to all the banks and major companies in Iceland. I went on maternity leave in November 1997.
