I am currently a Behavior Technician working with children and youth on the autism spectrum. I work one on one with a client to reach social, emotional, and communicative goals that will aid them in reaching targeted milestones. I provide Alternative Behavior Analysis therapy which requires me to record, analyze and enter data according to their behaviors and progress. From 2021-2022, I worked extensively within communities of need as a Community Health Worker. I have collaborated on an outreach team in providing access to resources for families and individuals in need. Resources including; food assistance, rent assistance, health care needs, mental health services, Covid-19 testing, and vaccination sites. In addition, with collaboration from Mecklenburg County Health Department, I was able to aid in distribution of at-home COVID-19 tests for communities who otherwise would not have access. Furthermore, to contribute in health equity, I assisted in many COVID testing and vaccine sites across the region. This role required becoming Community Health Worker I Certified through a course from an accredited college, numerous monthly trainings, as well as continuing education courses.Aside from my part within Public Health, I have continuously been an advocate for youth in the foster care system. In addition to my lived experience and aging out of foster care, I frequently speak on panels centered around advocacy and creating positive change within the system. Furthermore, I have had experience being a mentor to a foster care child from 2020 to 2021 and presently continued this role in November of 2022. In addition, I have previously worked as a program developer and meeting facilitator for a program centered around supporting former foster youth.
