ILLIANCE project in collaboration with Bosch. The ILLIANCE Agenda tackles the critical challenge of achieving carbon neutrality in the building sector, which currently accounts for approximately 40% of global CO2 emissions. By focusing on the pillars of health, comfort, and sustainability, the agenda drives the development and industrialization of innovative technologies to create "healthy, comfortable, and sustainable buildings." My role involves developing methods to generate detailed 3D models that can be used for various applications, such as navigation guidance, emergency management, building maintenance and renovation planning, and indoor location-based services (e.g., way-finding and contextualized content delivery). These methods have been applied to a factory floor, enabling navigation, way-finding, and the visualization of different machines' metrics, contributing to improved efficiency and functionality in industrial environments.

PhD grant by FCT: Foundation for Science and Technology. The main objective of this work was to advance the state of the art in 3D reconstruction by producing geometrically accurate and visually realistic 3D models, even in challenging environments. This involves minimizing geometric errors, enhancing texture quality, and reducing artefacts such as noise and distortion. The main goals of this research can be summarized as follows: - The study and characterization of existing methods of 3D reconstructions, particularly those leveraging optimization techniques of different components. Based on a literature review, structure the associated knowledge to identify current approaches, hardware, mathematical models, and evaluation methodologies, recognizing new application areas. - The proposal of a novel RGB-D reconstruction method, integrating various techniques within an optimization framework to produce 3D reconstructions that meet defined standards. The selection of parameters and techniques, along with their evaluation, informed by the literature review.

Smart Green Homes project in collaboration with Bosch. This project focused on developing innovative solutions to enhance comfort in domestic environments while promoting sustainability and reducing environmental impact. The scope included connectivity, renewable energy, energy efficiency, recycling, and smart materials to create cutting-edge solutions for both indoor and outdoor living spaces. My contribution specifically involved exploring new ways for users to interact with consumer products and streamline maintenance processes. By leveraging augmented reality, I developed tools for intuitive product interactions and facilitated remote collaboration, making maintenance more accessible and user-friendly while enhancing overall efficiency.
