Conducted an in-depth analysis of privacy concerns in Educational Technology (EdTech) by examining over 7,300 user reviews from popular applications like Canvas, Kahoot!, and Proctorio. This research uncovered critical privacy and security challenges, including data collection, device intrusion, and surveillance issues, particularly in mandatory EdTech environments. Through thematic analysis and crowdsourced annotations, we identified key trends in user experiences, revealing both privacy risks and positive feedback about encryption and data minimization practices. The findings offer valuable insights for improving transparency and security in EdTech, contributing to the broader discussion on data privacy in digital education. Presented this research at WPES 2024.
