Tierra Stewart serves as Chief Program Officer at DC SCORES where she develops strategy, leads innovation, and is primarily responsible for the highest-quality program implementation and expansion.Today, DC SCORES is one of the largest youth-serving organizations in the District, serving over 3,000 poet-athletes annually at 60+ Title 1 elementary and middle schools throughout the city. Each year, our kids play hundreds of soccer matches, write and perform thousands of poems, and design and carry out dozens of service projects. Our program improves physical and social-emotional health, and the sense of belonging that comes with being part of a team helps kids build the resilience necessary to process the world around them. We elevate the voices of children of color and give them the skills and the platform to speak up and act out against injustice wherever they see it.

As the founder of the organization LEAD THE WAY Tierra is on a mission to disrupt traditional leadership and rebuild community. LEAD THE WAY is a leadership development, community, and movement building organization that prioritizes community care and healing while equipping and empowering individuals, organizations, and institutions with the knowledge and tools to to cultivate social, civic, and systemic change through organizing spirited, wholistic, brave, and transformational spaces that honors the humanity of all.

IGNITE is a national, non-partisan 501c3 that is building a movement of young women who are ready and eager to become the next generation of political leaders. We offer civic education, exposure to elected women, hands on training and work opportunities, and a peer network of women who support each other’s aspirations.As the Chief Program Officer at IGNITE I am leading our national programmatic strategy and growth across the country. Additionally, maintaining the IGNITE brand, establishing essential relationships, overseeing programs, managing all program resources and staff, and maintaining relationships with funders and donors. In my role as the National Fellowship Program Director, I increased the political leadership and civic engagement of young women across the country through training, workshops, retreats, and boot camps. I expanded the Fellowship program from 7 to 24 cities across the country. I led in programmatic design and implementation, recruiting and hiring, training, and facilitating programming in order to increase women’s civic engagement, support young women as they position themselves for actual bids for candidacy via training and targeted support towards the appointment process for local boards and commissions.

In my role as a Program Manager, I hired, trained, and managed staff. I expanded programming from one to seven programming sites. I designed and implemented comprehensive after-school programming. I cultivated strong community partnerships and high community and parent engagement in the history of Ward 8 D.C through extensive community building and events. I created and implemented successful systems that ensured quality programs and accuracy of data reporting.
