My responsibilities include development of processes and expertise as well as acting as senior specialist in ILS related assignments. Tasks can vary from specialist's analysis or consultation on the field of ILS and maintenance services into working on a project manager role and negotiating with customers. I was working at Institute of Materials Science in a special unit called Tampere Wear Center. My specialties were tribology and more precisely sliding bearings. My project was called ECOBEARINGS, which means environmentally compatible bearing materials and it was a MATERA project financed by TEKES. The research was concentrated on finding a substitute for lead bronzes. The work was done in cooperation between Departments of Materials Science and Construction Technology.Master's Theses: “Materials Testing of Thrust Bearing”, Examiners: Dean Toivo Lepistö and Professor Arto Lehtovaara.The thesis was funded by Metso Minerals Oy. The materials performances were tested with experimental test device. The device was made to simulate the actual conditions in the bearing. The materials were also studied by the means of optical and electron microscopy (SEM). Working was independent from the planning of the test to the final reporting in the thesis.

I worked for the Department of Materials Science. This was a part-time employment in addition to my studying at the Tampere University of Technology.I was mainly in a project that was funded by Posiva Oy and the object was to study electron beam welded copper. The actual application was the sealing of the copper canisters for final disposal of Finnish nuclear waste. The research was basic metallurgical studying.
