Social media manager for the Justice for Gregory Johnson campaign, a social justice campaign based in San Jose, California, and marketed mainly on social media. Social media for this campaign was mainly based on Instagram, but also included Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok. As social media manager, I imagined, created, and published infographics and marketing graphics pressuring the Santa Clara Cunty Coroner's Office and San Jose State University to reopen a 2008 investigation into an SJSU student's death. This was done with the input of Gregory Johnson's family and other community organizers, as well as an ever-changing small team of student volunteers who also occasionally contributed to the social media. I also coordinated marketing for events such as protests, fundraisers, and rallies that were put on by other supportive community organizations through infographics created on Canva and live-streaming on Instagram. Multiple posts went viral receiving several thousands of likes and views, with a few reaching over 26,000 likes and even more views. In addition, I employed our campaign's social media to run and promote our online merchandise shop where we sold t-shirts, masks, and stickers, the profits of which were all donated to the Johnson family to fundraise legal fees. About $2,500 was raised for the Johnson family in total due to our marketing and sales. As a direct result of over a year of mounting pressure from the San Jose State University community and other campaign supporters, the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office asked the SCC Chief Medical Examiner to re-examine the 2008 death investigation, which was resolved in November 2021, ending the Johnson family's 13-year fight for answers. San Jose State University was also pressured to acknowledge the campaign in official emails and statements, and school administration, including the President and Vice Presidents of SJSU at the time, who also met personally with students to address their concerns.
