In my current role as the Literacy Coordinator for a large school district in Texas, I provide leadership and coordination to ensure an aligned and articulated instructional program in English Language Arts and Literacy. I serve as a resource for both curriculum and instructional information and strategies for teachers as well as assist in diagnosing areas of strength and weakness in the curriculum and instructional program of the district and prescribing content and strategies for improvement. I work closely with our district area superintendents, 32 elementary and intermediate campuses, principals, and educators on those campuses. My major responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Supervise and evaluate literacy team of coaches Analyze the critical needs Provide program support and service delivery Implement vertical and horizontal systems integration initiatives Assist departments requesting and utilizing services provided Keep abreast of new developments in literacy Coordinate professional development for instruction Create/provide professional development Assist in planning for and implementing district instructional goals Plan, implement and evaluate district and state assessment data Assist in preparation of resource materials Disaggregate data (state, federal, local) for leading and lagging indicators; create a plan for mid-course adjustments and long-range plans and disseminate promptlyPlan, develop, and facilitate the purchase of instructional materials and supplies
