Tiffany Le is a Staff Software Engineer at ServiceNow at ServiceNow. Our collaboration has primarily involved her role as one of 5 administrators of a large VMware vCenter environment used by the team and her role as one of the test automation leads in the program. Tiffany has performed code coverage testing and report analysis using the Clover instrumentation tool. She assisted me recently when I was asked to investigate Clover, sharing wiki pages and other references she had saved from her involvement in this activity. As one of the test automation leads, Tiffany offers guidance and training to scrum teams as they work to author tests. She creates VM environments and Jenkins jobs, as needed, that contain the software and networking dependencies required for scrum team developed tests. What has impressed me most about Tiffany is her diligent review of Git pull requests that contain test automation code written by developers, QA engineers, or test automation engineers. Tiffany reviews the code for correctness, readability, proper use of utility libraries, consistency with established coding patterns, and most importantly, alignment with the documented test steps that were developed based on the acceptance criteria established by the functional architect. In every review I have observed, Tiffany identifies some part of the test plan that the automated test fails to adequately exercise, or that can be improved upon in the test. Tiffany’s reviews are not simply a rubber stamp; they are a conscientious and exhaustive analysis of the test code. Tiffany recognizes that our test automation is only as good as the quality of the tests themselves, and she is instrumental in ensuring these tests are of high quality in terms of what the tests cover and our ability to read and modify these tests in the future.
