During my time as a Customer Service Engineer with Cyan, I was introduced to SDN and NFV, optical fiber networks, PBB-TE, MPLS-TP, DWDM, SONET, Carrier Ethernet (MEF) supporting the Cyan Z-Series Product Range, including, the Blue Planet and Planet Operate management platforms.As a Customer Service Engineer I was responsible for managing early stage products in customer locations through mature product turn-up, test and troubleshooting. I was responsible for managing customer events and situations in both remote and on-site scenarios. Primary Responsibilities included:• Live network troubleshooting with follow through of lab replication, escalation, and problem resolution.• Providing initial fault isolation, proactive maintenance, and status of systems, circuits and networks, and monitoring of customer network equipment.• Proactively monitor customer connections utilising sophisticated network monitoring tools.• Ensuring problems are satisfactorily resolved in a timely manner with focus on providing a high level of support for all customers• Proficiency in delivering product demonstrations• Providing customer training and mentoring• Providing escalation support• Supporting and participating in customer lab testing• Development of customer specific installation and upgrade procedures/documentation

My position at IBMs Network Maintenance Remote Support Centre started supporting a large base of enterprise customers, including Telstra - Westpac, Telstra - Woolworths, Telstra - Qantas, Westfarmers and various Government departments. Part of this work included working on and supporting engineers attending Cisco Third Party Maintenance calls, including attending on site work in Brisbane myself.With the introduction of Juniper product lines to IBM's support portfolio, I was exposed to a further range of technologies, including IP Networks and Security systems (firewalls, IPSec & SSL VPNs, IDS/IPS). Providing 24/7 support to service provider IP networks, including Telstra, IINET, Macquarie Telecom, Ninefold and AAPT (All since November 2009). Products supported include Juniper product lines - - M/T/J/E/MX/T/SSL/SRX/WX/EX/ISG & Netscreen/SSG. This also included AlgoSec AFA and FireFlow, McAfee Vulnerability Manager and Network Security Platform and Checkpoint Firewalls.
