Animals, plants and bacteria have had to find ways to co-exist for millions of years. One way or another, we all somehow end up on each other's plates. The interactions that arise between these organisms are fascinating, and I dedicated a good part of my life to exploring them. I have completed my PhD in Microbiology, in which I had focused on a fly's intestinal bacteria, which have the potential to be vectors of both disease and fitness. Now, I dedicate my work to ensuring the microbiological safety of foods. Through these ventures I've developed into an experienced lab worker with knowledge of molecular as well as digital techniques. I believe that next generation sequencing and pertinent data analysis are currently major ways for gathering knowledge in this field. Knowledge, however, is worthless if it is not either transmitted to others or translated into application. This is why my work also includes the reporting of microbiological findings at WFSR, and transmitting the WFSR knowledgebase by educating external parties. At WFSR we are able to translate knowledge to clients in order to indirectly safeguard foods throughout the country. It is amazing to be working with people who actively try to turn insights in to application.
