I am a partner in our Atlanta office. I joined the legal profession with 15 years of real world experience. I worked my up from a member of the United Steelworkers tapping a blast furnace in a lead smelter to a management position with that same company and then working as a cloth spreader in a garment factory when the recession of the early eighties turned the smelter into the country's largest Superfund site (at that time). My 'real life" work experience has been an invaluable tool in understanding employees, workplace issues, and in providing practical advice. A great deal of my practice is devoted to the representation of dealerships in the retail automotive industry where my background has been especially beneficial. My practice focuses on the defense of employment discrimination complaints in court and before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and various state commissions. I regularly counsel with clients on day-to-day challenges, such as terminations and leave issues. I also advise clients on the preventive measures they can take to minimize liability. Additionally, I provide training to management and speak to groups and associations on many labor and employment law topics, including effective hiring, discipline and discharge, disability law, sexual harassment, wage and hour law, and family and medical leave.
