What separates powerful, inspiring communication from noise? The answer depends, it seems, on the recipient. If there's one thing that my years as a corporate communications leader have taught me, it's that people's personal thinking styles can have a profound effect on the types of communication and even leadership that really engages and inspires them. Taking account of people's thinking styles, neurodiversity as it is now termed, has become a core design principle for me when considering any activity involving human engagement. I am now focusing that learning into three main pursuits where I feel I can can make the most distinctive contribution, be the best me and also have the most fun.Major events hosting (either in person, or virtual) is an endeavour where I always get wonderful feedback. The corporate stage is a place that allows me to exercise my communication skills, business experience and critical reasoning. Delivering keynotes and being a stage presence that puts other presenters at ease so they can be their best, while also raising energy and engagement levels in the audience is hugely satisfying. In this area I work freelance and as an associate of Aspect Communications.Leadership & Communication Skills Coaching both in the corporate sector and now also in young people, which has become a way for me to utilise some core skills with a new audience. A slightly daunting challenge but one that I relish through my work with EmployabilityUK.Using music as a visceral way of connecting and communicating with people has been a long-term passion. As Musical Director for a thriving samba band, I have taught percussion and led many performances, and now I am developing this further into new offerings with the good friends I have made at Sambando.Connecting people with people, whether through events, coaching or live performance always brings me satisfaction, adventure and new learning.
