Supporting the creation of a business and IT strategy and project portfolio for the digital transformation within Express Gifts

IT Director responsible for systems modernisation programme. Implemented major IT programme to move away from batch mainframe dependence, including new website platform (Websphere Commerce) now responsible for over 70% of all inbound orders, new, fully integrated telephone ordering platform (CVCSA) providing single view of customers, stock and orders, product master data management platform (IBM), customer master data management platform (SAS), new applicanty scoring systems (Transact) and integration architecture centred around MQ and Broker technology. All IT processes were upgraded and documented as the company achieved regulatory approvals under the FCA. Stepped down from frontline role in order to allow effective handover following my decision to train for full time ministry in the Methodist Church.

Responsible for developing and implementing a strategy for the modernisation of Express Gifts systems, from batch mainframe to a real time service oriented architecture.

Most recent project to replace the entire systems for multi-channel retail brand, including website, call centre, product management, warehousing, finance and MIS. The new systems, based around Websphere Commerce, Sales Centre and Product Centre, integrated using MQ and Broker won an IBM global award for innovation. The project began in December 2007, with group board capex sign off and the system was implemented in September 2008. In parallel with this project, managed a major warehouse management system replacement for a further brand with approximately 60,000 sku’s. Also completed a major project to migrate the a home shopping and distributor business from existing systems and facilities in Bristol to systems and warehouse operations in Accrington, Clayton and Manchester, following an acquisition.

I worked at a Group level, reporting directly to the Chairman and Chief Executive, developing online strategies, implementing an ISP for one of the groups divisions and developing eCommerce stores and websites.
