I am now in my seventh year as a primary school teacher after over 20 years working as a journalist. I am the Read Write Inc lead for the Ofsted-rated Outstanding Willow Brook Primary School in Leyton and manage the delivery of the phonics programme across the school. I am teaching in Year 1, after 4 years in Year 2, and also manage the school's links to Into Film, a British educational charity that runs film-based programmes for children aged five to nineteen.At the start of the pandemic last March I also took a lead role in designing, building and managing the home-learning website for the school, which we launched a week after the first lockdown began and have maintained and updated ever since.I also have a background as a journalist with strong creative and managerial skills having worked for 11 years in print and for over 11 years online. I am used to managing teams to meet challenging business targets and working hard to create topical, entertaining and compelling editorial content.
