Jan 2021 - Present

Founder

Australia

Around five years ago, I was fortunate enough to embark on a journey that would turn around my health and wellbeing. Having spent 20+ years owning and operating multiple companies with a very hands-on approach, I had always put my health and wellbeing 2nd. It was time for a change.I was in a privileged position to afford the absolute best care as I hand-selected practitioners, coaches, physiologists, therapists and integrative health specialists. They developed custom programs that had a profound effect on me. My treatment was holistic as I completely flipped almost all of my daily habits and practices — I was doing the opposite of what I’d done for the majority of my adult life, and the results spoke for themselves. I found authentic happiness and my lens on the world changed forever. With this newfound view of the world, it was clear I was deeply dissatisfied. My work life didn’t align with my purpose. After seven years of living and working around the clock, I decided to exit all of my business interests and moved out of Sydney. I set out to combine all of my professional experience and my passions and personal purpose to create a better future for generations to come. As a father, I can attribute my burning desire to create change to my daughter Zoe. I feel an enormous sense of responsibility to lead from the front and prove that we’re doing everything humanly possible to create a liveable future. With a passion for design, architecture and human experience, I wanted to reimagine how we build, live and learn, how we treat the land, build community and foster relationships. Beyond that, we're committed to investigate ways to scale and give access to the broader community that can’t afford the luxury of what I had experienced. Opposite Group is the vehicle to bring all of this learning, research and experience to life.

Founding Partner, Creative Director, Operator

169 - Cafe, Bar & Dining

Darlinghurst, Sydney

After operating Tatler for 2 years and being fed up with the lack of good quality, healthy food options in the area we decided to take on one the space on the ground floor - a space that for years had never quite worked. Initially opening up as a pop-up space under the moniker 'The Goodwill Society' the goodwill was restored, a committed customer base was in place and we then transformed the space into 169 which still trades today serving up great coffee and reliable no-fuss healthy food options in the sun drenched North facing terrace and dining room.

2014 - 2019 ~5 yrs

Founding Partner, Creative Director, Operator

Tatler

Darlinghurst, Sydney

Taking the reigns of Sydney's oldest and most exclusive nightclubs was a huge responsibility and one that I didn't take lightly. Having worked at Tatler in its 'heyday' it was a slice of Sydney that always had a special place in my heart. We painstakingly restored the club so it was fit for purpose having been run into the ground by its previous owner. The level of detail and amount of custom finishes in the club was unthinkable, there's a story behind each piece. Our strategy was to cater to a mature market and once again invite back film wrap parties, private events, launches and live events. A strategy that saw the club remain in place throughout the crippling legislative changes that decimated the Darlinghurst/ Kings Cross area. We were the only nightclub to survive the 'lock outs' and the club still proudly operates to this day with the same management team in place.

2012 - 2019 ~7 yrs

Founder & Managing Director

Sydney, Australia

And. was established to handle the rapid growth of Tim& with two partners joining the team going on to win Staedtler whilst I was at the helm. With zero interest in creating client work I exited the business to focus on consulting and my pre-existing businesses.

Mar 2013 - Dec 2013

Founder & Head Of Strategy

Tim&

Sydney

Tim& was originally established as an internal design and marketing resource for my existing business interests. I regrettably agreed to pitch for external client work and we won the Macquarie Telecom account and generated $1m in fees in our first 12 months of operation with a two man team.

Jun 2008 - Jul 2011

Founding Partner, Investor & Managing Director

Chinatown Shanghai

Shanghai, China

Originally undertaken as a consulting role I soon invested in the club once funding had fallen through from the US. I assumed the role of Managing Director and overhauled the existing business plan taking it to market and eventually raising $1m USD at the height of the GFC. The club was designed and developed in an abandoned Buddhist Temple originally built in 1931. With 10 full-time showgirls, a show singer from New York and our show MC from the UK - Chinatown Charlie, the club opened to incredible fanfare as China’s first burlesque nightclub. The club received incredible local and international press including features in China Daily, Vogue China, The Guardian, Washington Post, Australian Financial Review later featuring on Piers Morgan’s ‘What’s On’ Shanghai edition. In our opening year we won Nightclub of the Year and Best New Nightclub Design from That’s Shanghai. The club still operates to this day under new management.

Jul 2008 - Dec 2009

Head Of Interactive

Sydney/ Shanghai

After my exit from ADG I was headhunted to establish an Interactive Department within the TMSW Sydney office. We successfully launched the offering winning Smirnoff as our key account and later working across the Canon business win, the largest win in the office’s history. After 6 months in the role I was posted to the Shanghai Office as acting Managing Director to crisis manage and stabilise the office as we recruited a new full-time Managing Director. I was responsible for leading the team across all major accounts including McDonalds, KRAFT, Lenovo and Diageo.

Apr 2007 - Jun 2008

Founder & Creative Director

Analog Digital Group / Adg Creative

Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

Established as a boutique creative agency and production company ADG specialised in video, web, graphic design and animation producing campaigns and content for the likes of Vodafone, NAB, Durex, Lastminute.com.au and Diageo.Prior to my exit the business re-branded as Pusher and was later acquired by Publicis Group Worldwide.
