About Tim Custer
I am in the midst of my sixteenth year in the world of independent school admission, with experience at four different boarding schools. I began my career in the fall of 2009 as the Assistant Director of Admission at Avon Old Farms School. Having grown up on the campus of Avon Old Farms, I was excited to take on the challenge of a new position as an Associate Director Admission at The Masters School in July of 2011. I assumed the position of Senior Associate Director of Admission at Masters in the summer of 2020. In the summer of 2022, I joined the admission team at Mercersburg Academy. After a successful two years there, my wife and I decided to seek new challenges closer to home in New England as we raise our family. In June of 2024, I accepted the position of Director of Admission at Buxton School.

I am an Associate Director of Admission at The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, New York. I am the primary overseer of domestic boarding applications, but I also work with day applicants as well as prospective families from overseas. I conduct hundreds of interviews with prospective families, evaluate applications, sit on the admission committee, and travel frequently on behalf of the school. I have also been involved with the writing and design of several Masters admissions publications, and I serve as the liaison for various placement programs that are seeking to enroll their students at Masters.In addition to my admissions roles, I am also the co-head coach of the boys' varsity lacrosse team, and I am an advisor to several students. Previously, I have also served as a chaperone for weekend activities.
