Another Company doctor role. Stepped in to manage a run-down 116 room accommodation property in outback WA with huge potential. Within less than 2 years we now manage over 400 rooms, feed around 400 people full breakfast, takeaway lunch and 3 course meals every day. Manage all aspects of property with direct responsibility for bottom line, customer relations and operational safety. Profit performance increased tenfold in 2 years, with very strong demand assured for 3 years.

Called in to act as Executive Chairman to remove barriers preventing successful operation of business, restructure management and set business on expansion path to achieve profitability within financing constraints. Role converted to appointment as Managing Director.Sales & GP doubled over prior year. All major impediments to operations removed, and turned around $1m loss making to $0.5m+ profit in 12 months

Transitory role to change, manage and nurture business post resignation of former CEO and transfer/mentor into hands of existing young incumbent executive. Overall control of business and leadership of relatively young Management Team. Involved development, implementation and completion of change management including revenue and occupancy lifting strategy transforming company into Australia’s largest caravan/holiday park operator. Strategy included * development and rollout of consumer focussed brand, and national signage program, * implementation of first caravan park centralised reservation/front office system in Australia; * website revamp incorporating industry first internet booking engine, * overhaul of HR practices reducing staff turnover by 2/3rds, streamlining of overweight finance department. * Cost control management program bringing under control over $2 million in cost blowouts. Business restructuring plan in light of 2008 global financial crisis delivering further $2m

Responsibilities included overseeing finance function of Group, franchisee international conference and communication function, travel insurance in-house (broker)operation and strategy development. Key lead manager for acquisition & integration of Thomas Cook Travel in Australia and New Zealand, establishment of HWT’s corporate travel franchise network (CT Partners), architect/development of HWT’s Franchisee behavioural incentive FIRST system, expansion into UK, strategic acquisition of investment in Webjet Limited (netting over $20m capital gain for group.Investor Relations presentations to market, analysts, bankers, institutions including capital raising, placements and major announcements.Post September 11 led business change program to turn loss-making travel operations (severely impacted by 9/11) into profit making operating in less than 6 months.Intimately involved in ultimate successful compulsory takeover netting shareholders an additional 50% in share value over latest market share price.
