I have been involved with Industrial Control and Automation for my entire career. I was initially sponsored through my degree by leading SCADA company Transmitton Ltd. in Ashby de la Zouch and then held various positions including Project Engineer, Senior Project Engineer, Sales Engineer, Systems Engineer, Systems Consultant, Project Manager with Transmitton and more latterly Siemens. My initial experience included various sectors Mining (Coal), Water, Ford (Telemetry based Energy Management building control and automation at Basildon Tractor Plant, Dagenham Engine Plant, Southampton Transit plant, Halewood PTO, Genk, Duren). In 1989 I decided to apply my Engineering skills to Sales at Transmitton after being given a number of projects that I considered poorly sold and started my Sales Career in the Water division. I was approached by the Oil and Gas Division in 1990 and have been involved primarily in the Oil and Gas market ever since.I took on increasing responsibilities which culminated in being responsible for the all aspects of the Oil and Gas business from sales, bidding, contract negotiation, project technical and commercial management, strategy, obsolescence planning and implementation.

Systems ConsultantSiemens Plc - Industry Sector, Mobility Division, Rail Automation, Control & Information Sep 2005 - Jul 2013Ashby De La ZouchBackground:Transmitton was purchase by BICC in 1976, ICS in 1997, Alchemy in 2000 (with the purchase of ICS) and finally Siemens in 2005 primarily for their Transport Division and installed base with Network Rail. This role continued with all the responsibilities previously detailed within a company focussing less and less on the Oil and Gas market (although many would argue this was their most successful market in terms of successful projects, customer relationships, Engineer satisfaction etc). The turnover of the Oil and Gas / process sector grew each year until I left. All Transmitton's major Oil and Gas systems, which had now been installed between 10 and 15 years, were upgraded through technical obsolescence planning which I lead within each organisation. The central systems were all replaced with the latest generation of cromos masterstation with no customers choosing to replace the systems with equipment from other vendors. An ongoing story of success.

Systems Consultant And Oil And Gas Business ManagerTransmitton Limited Sep 2000 - Sep 2005Ashby De La ZouchIn this role I took on responsibility for Transmitton's presence in the Oil and Gas Market, focussing on the support, upgrade, extension and obsolescence planning associated with the installed base. This included both Technical, Commercial and Project Management. The systems included the AIOC Western Route Pipeline Control and Leak Detection System (Azerbaijan & Georgia), Interconnector Pipeline Control System, Sangu Pipeline Control System (Bangladesh), Shaybah Pipeline RTUs (Saudi Aramco).Within this role I successfully balanced the expectations of Transmitton's Senior Management and those of the Customers. All proposals were generated with full Engineering input ensuring both the customer and Transmitton's Engineer fully understood what was being proposed and bought into the solution - consequently all projects met both the expectations of Transmitton's Senior Management and the customers. A win-win situation for all with no bad projects (which I believe is unique in Transmitton's experience).
