Focused primarily on commercial insurance from January 2022 to July 2024. Working from home, I provided quotes from admitted and non-admitted commercial carriers available to our independent agency, such as Liberty Mutual, The Hartford, Travelers, State Auto and USLI. Provided customer service, such as answering questions about coverage, submitting policy changes, and performing insurance reviews. Split time between personal lines and commercial insurance from April 2021 to January 2022.

I managed a staff of six full-time employees. I had normal editor's duties — assigning stories, editing copy, scheduling, posting breaking news to the website, contracting with freelance reporters, annual performance evaluations — and did as much reporting and writing as I could, which was frequent. I won first place in column writing and sports event coverage from the Colorado Press Association on multiple occasions.

I managed the news reporting staff, which varied from eight to 10 full-time reporters during my eight years as city editor. I assigned stories, conducted daily meetings concerning story content for the next day's newspaper, edited copy, did annual performance evaluations of staff members, did the weekly scheduling, posted breaking news to the website and occasionally wrote stories. For three years, I wrote the weekly Biz Buzz column, which appeared in the Sunday edition, reporting about area businesses opening, closing, moving or making changes.

I was a sports reporter covering high school, college and professional sports for my first seven years, and I became the sports editor in 1997 and did that job for five years. The Wisconsin Newspaper Association awarded our sports section first place for best sports section in our class four times during my time as editor. I received numerous writing awards from the WNA, including first place for column writing, feature writing and event coverage. I also took photos on occasion.I spent my final year at the News-Chronicle as the managing editor. The News-Chronicle no longer exists, going out of business in 2005.
