Led economic development action for the Boscobel, Wis. community through this part-time position with Community and Economic Development Associates. Organized community forums and focus groups to analyze community branding and marketing, and developed a new community brand identity for the city as "Wisconsin's Outdoor Recreation Destination." On behalf of the Chamber of Commerce, secured a $22,000 JEM grant from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism for community promotion. Successfully applied to have Boscobel participate in Wisconsin’s Connect Communities Program. Counseled entrepreneurs on launching new businesses, and led efforts to market industrial park space to site selectors. Personally created a visitors website for Boscobel and several neighboring communities and, working with the Chamber Marketing Committee, helped produce promotional videos for tourism. Serve as Vice President of the Grant County Tourism Council and President-Elect of the Grant County Economic Development Corporation. Nominated for a 2016 Governor’s Award as a “Rising Star” of Tourism.

Facilitated and implemented programs that empowered Mississippi Valley Conservancy to accomplish its mission, including (1) the permanent legal protection of land, (2) proper stewardship of land and conservation easements held, (3) public speaking, outreach and education on MVC’s programs and goals, (4) building an organizational capacity to accomplish program goals, (5) developing and implementing strategic plans for the future in conjunction with the board of directors, (6) building and maintaining effective partnerships with local governments, service groups, conservation organizations, and related state and federal agencies, (7) fundraising, grant writing and membership building, and (8) budgeting, staffing, and reporting. In seven years, supervised the completion of more than 80 permanent land conservation projects totaling 12,000 acres and worth approximately $40 million; successfully achieved national land trust accreditation; assisted in securing several million dollars of grant funding. Represented Wisconsin commercial corn growers as part of $110 million settlement of nationwide class action with claims arising from genetically-modified “StarLink” corn. Achieved multimillion-dollar settlement of environmental class action on behalf of 300 property owners (with co-counsel). Successfully appealed circuit court and administrative decisions, including obtaining a victory before the Iowa Supreme Court and defeating an opponent's petition for certiorari before the U.S. Supreme Court. Performed transactional work in real estate development and corporate matters, and drafted contracts and employee handbooks. Compiled legal forms database containing more than 1,000 form documents to enhance law firm efficiency.

Created a leading “virtual community” and legal resource on the World Wide Web for ordinary people and the lawyers who fight for them, featured in Lawyers Weekly. Oversaw technical issues and managed programming staff. Planned site content and marketing efforts. Authored and programmed an online searchable database on legal ethics and the Internet for the 50 states.

Litigated disputes involving insurance bad faith, environmental law, real estate, sexual harassment, employment discrimination, contracts, and personal injury.
